Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs chicken wings split into flats and drumettes (fresh or thawed frozen)
  • 1.5 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil for higher smoke point
  • 1.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1.5 tsp paprika smoked for extra flavor
  • 3/4 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup buffalo sauce optional; or BBQ, teriyaki
  • 1.5 tbsp melted butter optional, for sauce; omit for dairy-free

Method

  1. Prepare wings: Pat wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper until coated.
  2. Arrange in air fryer: Place wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket (work in batches if needed). Set air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Cook wings: Air fry for 20-25 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway, until golden and 165°F internally.
  4. Add sauce (optional): Toss in buffalo sauce mixed with melted butter. Serve hot with celery or ranch dip.

Notes

  • Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days; reheat at 350°F for 5 minutes to crisp.
  • Substitutions: Use cauliflower wings for vegetarian; sugar-free sauce for keto or low-carb.
  • Tip: Dry wings thoroughly for maximum crispiness.
  • Variation: Try soy-ginger glaze for an Asian-inspired twist.
